How to keep natural leather lasting for years

Genuine leather is a luxurious and timeless material. When cared for properly, it can last for decades and look even better with age. However, if neglected, leather can crack, lose color and elasticity. In this article, we bring you practical tips on how to keep your leather products in perfect condition.

1. Regular cleaning

Dust and dirt over time enter the pores of the skin and impair its appearance.

  • For daily care, it is enough to wipe the leather with a soft, dry cloth.

  • Once a month, use a slightly damp cloth or a special leather cleaner.

  • Avoid chemicals, abrasive sponges and aggressive cleaning agents as they can damage the surface.

2. Hydration and care

Like human skin, natural skin also needs hydration.

  • Use balms or creams specifically designed for the skin.

  • Apply a thin layer and let it absorb.

  • Care is recommended every 2–3 months, and for products that are used frequently (eg bags or furniture) even more often.

3. Protection from sun and moisture

The skin is sensitive to external influences:

  • Prolonged exposure to the sun can fade the color.

  • Moisture and rain can cause stains or deformation.

  • If your skin gets wet, dry it naturally (without hair dryers or radiators).

4. Proper storage

  • Store bags and clothing in cotton bags, not plastic (skin needs to breathe).

  • Do not place leather furniture next to radiators or directly under windows.

  • If it is leather rolls or material, store them in a dry place and protect them from dust.

5. What to avoid

  • Do not use alcohol, acetone or all-purpose cleaners.

  • Don't use baby wipes – although they look practical, they contain ingredients that can damage the skin.

  • Don't rub harshly - it's better to repeat the gentle process several times.
