How to maintain Nubuck (Velour) leather?
How to maintain Nubuck leather?
Nubuck leather is a special type of buffed leather that is recognized for its velvety, soft texture and luxurious appearance. Although it appears robust and high-quality, Nubuck requires proper care to maintain its natural beauty and durability.
1. Regular cleaning
Unlike smooth leather, Nubuck should not be cleaned with a wet cloth. Instead, a special nubuck eraser or soft-bristled brush is used to remove dust and small stains without damaging the surface.
2. Protection from moisture
Nubuck is sensitive to moisture, so it is recommended to use impregnation sprays. They create a protective layer that repels water and dirt, without changing the color of the leather. The spray is applied evenly and left to dry naturally.
3. Stain removal
If stains occur, it is best to treat them as soon as possible. For greasy stains, you can use a special powder or talcum powder, which absorbs the grease, and then lightly brush the surface.
4. Preservation and storage
Nubuck leather should be stored in a dry and airy place, away from direct sunlight which can fade the color. It is recommended to use cotton bags or breathable covers.
5. Regular renewal
In order for Nubuck to retain its softness and velvety appearance, it is necessary to occasionally use special sprays for the care of brushed leather, which restore freshness and color.
